Editorial Policy

HistoryZ exists to make the surviving evidence behind historical claims easier to inspect. We publish explanatory history for general readers, with a preference for primary records, museum and archive collections, reputable academic research, and clearly identified reference works.

How we choose and prepare stories

Topics are selected for reader value, source availability, and the opportunity to explain context that is often lost in short summaries. A publishable article must distinguish documented facts from interpretation, identify material uncertainty, and avoid presenting a disputed claim as settled.

Evidence and attribution

Important factual claims should be traceable to named sources. Quotations must preserve their relevant context. Images must be original, public domain, or used under a compatible licence, with source and credit information where required.

Independence and conflicts

Advertising, affiliate relationships, or commercial considerations do not determine the conclusions of an article. Sponsored material, if ever published, will be clearly labelled. We do not sell favourable historical coverage or accept payment to alter a factual conclusion.

Editing and updates

Digital tools may assist with research organisation, production, and technical checks. Published work remains subject to source, factual, originality, copyright, layout, and policy review. Substantive corrections are handled under our Corrections Policy.
